1. Check if the cut-off affects only your accommodation
- If the whole apartment is affected, it may be a general cut or a supply issue.
- Ask your flatmates if they also have no gas.
2. Check the gas supply valve
Make sure it is open:
- Valve perpendicular to pipe = closed
- Valve in line with pipe = open
3. Check the gas meter (if accessible)
- If there is a display, check whether it shows a cut-off or fault.
- Check that the meter is not displaying an error message.
4. Check the appliance concerned
If you use a gas cooker or hob:
- Check that the ignition works (battery, button, spark).
- Try lighting another burner.
If you have gas heating or water heater:
- Refer to the appliance manual if needed.
- Check that the appliance is on and not displaying an error code.
5. Ventilate the accommodation
- If you smell gas, open the windows immediately.
- Do not use any electrical appliance.
- Turn off the gas valve and contact the gas emergency service.
