My radiator is not working

If your flat is no longer heating or one radiator is not working properly, it is important to quickly identify whether it is a general issue or limited to one room.

Steps to fix the problem

1. Check if the issue is general or partial
  • The whole flat is cold → likely a general issue
  • Only one radiator or one room is affected → the problem is localised

This distinction will help us assist you more effectively.

2. Identify the type of heating

The type of heating in your accommodation is indicated in the information sent on your arrival (welcome email).

Collective heating

If heating is collective, you cannot intervene directly. Please contact our team so we can liaise with the building management.

3. Individual heating: checks to carry out

A. Electric heating

Check the radiator:

  • Make sure it is plugged in
  • Check that the on/off switch is on
  • Check that the temperature dial is not set to a low or frost-protection position

Check the main thermostat (if present):

  • Some accommodations have a central thermostat
  • Make sure it is not in summer mode or set too low

After any change, wait a few minutes: heat can take a little time to come through.

B. Heating via individual boiler

Check the boiler mode:

  • Make sure the boiler is not in summer mode (hot water only)

How to identify summer mode:

  • Modern boiler (digital display):
  • The mode may be displayed directly as:
  • "Summer"
  • or only a 🔥 symbol (hot water)
  • The absence of the radiator symbol usually means heating is off
  • Older boiler (with dials):
  • A symbol may indicate the mode:
  • If only the hot water symbol (usually a tap 🚰) is active → summer mode
  • If the radiator symbol is active → heating mode

Boiler with dials (older type):

  • Increase the heating temperature
  • Check that the heating button is on

Digital boiler:

  • Heating mode is usually shown by a radiator icon
  • Change the mode using the relevant button

Check the pressure:

  • PresThe normal pressure is generally between 1 and 2 bars
  • Below 1 bar, the pressure is considered too low and may stop the system from workingsure that is too low can prevent the heating from working
  • Refer to the guide for your specific model if needed
4. My radiator is not working in one room only

Electric radiator

  • Check that it is powered
  • Check the settings on the appliance
  • If no heat is coming out, try another socket if possible

Water radiator

  • Open the radiator valve fully
  • Listen for a slight sound of water circulation
  • Check whether the radiator is completely cold or partly warm (top or bottom only)

If your heating system runs on gas

Check the gas supply

  • Check if other gas appliances are working.
  • If none are working, it may be a general outage.

Check the gas valve

  • Make sure it is open.

Check the boiler

  • Ensure it is turned on.
  • Refer to the manual if an error code is displayed.

Check the gas meter (if accessible)

  • Make sure there are no error messages.

⚠️ If you smell gas

  • Open windows immediately
  • Do not use any electrical devices
  • Turn off the gas supply
  • Contact emergency gas services immediately

5. If the problem persists

If the heating still does not work after all these checks, please contact our technical team and provide:

  • A photo of the radiator or boiler model
  • A photo of the error code, if any
  • A short video showing the problem (cold radiator, boiler fault, etc.)
  • The list of checks already carried out

These details are essential to diagnose the fault quickly and arrange a visit if necessary.
